I'll Never Heal (inspired by September 11th) |
LyricsI?ll Never HealBy Scott Jeffrey sandjjeffrey@mchsi.com Copyright 2005 This used to be my favorite time of year Before leaves fell to the ground September Sun burned crisp and clear And hilltops shined in crimson brown. And we?d take walks beneath the pines Sparkling bright with morning frost Never dreaming then that I?d Be holding on to things I?ve lost. Now the world just turns around me It?s been years since you?ve been gone And my friends still offer comfort They say it?s time I?m moving on. But my heart?s forever broken Or at least that?s how I feel And missing you the way I do? I?m afraid I?ll never heal. I visit the places we once knew But they just don?t seem the same. And all your pictures faded blue Forever silent in their frame... While the world still turns around me It?s been years since you?ve been gone And my friends still offer comfort They say it?s time I?m moving on. But my heart?s forever broken Or at least that?s how I feel And missing you the way I do? I?m afraid I?ll never heal Bridge (climactic) I?ve been asking God for answers Since my world came crashing down When everything I ever loved Got laid into the ground {Softly} And now the world just turns around me Though it?s been years since you?ve been gone My friends still offer comfort They say it?s time I?m moving on. But my life?s forever broken Or at least that?s how I feel And missing you the way I do? I?m afraid I?ll never heal And loving you the way I do? I?m afraid I?ll never heal. |
Short Song Description: Inspired by September 11th I wrote this song after watching a documentary about Flight 93 and its heroes. In an interview, one of the surviving family members said she'll never "completely heal" and this song came pouring out of me. |
